An opening reception is set for 3-6 p.m. Saturday for a new exhibition of sculpture, pottery and paintings at the Hutton Wayfarer Gallery in South Point.

“Faces Not Seen” will feature the work of Homaira Khatun, a Teays Valley, West Virginia-based artist. She is owner and artist of Arts & Thoughts Studio, a gallery and art center.

With a background in architecture, as well as fine arts, she designed the building that houses her studio.

She obtained a Bachelor of Architecture from University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and BA, majoring Fine Arts, from University of Charleston, West Virginia.

She used to work in architectural companies in Philadelphia and worked on R&D and commercial buildings. She also attended Arrowmont school of art and crafts, besides attending several national and international ceramic workshops,  

“As an artist and humanitarian, Homaira promotes her personal, enlightening philosophy of creativity, non-prejudice and equality through her paintings and 3D sculptures,” her website biography states.

“Her work is lovely and quite unique,” Robin Hutton, co-owner of the Hutton Wayfarer Gallery said.

The gallery is located at 52 Pvt. Dr. 250, off County Road 144 in South Point.

Also coming is the unveiling of the ceramic tile mural that Robert Hutton has completed for the reopening of Jenkins Hall at Marshall University. That event is scheduled for Oct. 4.
