Impact Prevention is hosting the 2019 Youth Empowerment Activities Community Health Fair and Cook-out on Thursday, June 27.

The event, which will run from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., is open to the public and will take place at the Riverhills Community Building located at 628 S. Ninth St. in Ironton.

“We’ve been doing it for several years,” Susan Heald, coordinator for the Riverhills Community, said. “It’s a way of bringing in the neighborhood and the community.”

She said they have asked several agencies and groups to take part and health screenings will be offered.

The fair spins out of the youth empowerment summer camp the group puts on, she said.

There will be children’s games, food and emergency vehicles on-site for viewing.

Heald said the event is made possible with support from the Alcohol Drug and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Adams, Lawrence and Scioto Counties, Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services (OHMHAS) Resiliency Funds and the Lawrence County Juvenile Court.

Impact Prevention is a state-licensed prevention agency and works with local schools and youth.

“We provide strategies and evidence-based skills training,” Heald said.
