Upcoming projects heating up the winter

The holidays are over and a new year has begun. But that doesn’t mean anyone is relaxing or taking it easy here at The Tribune.
We are hard at work on two projects that will be our signature editions this winter.
The first is the second issue of our lifestyle magazine, Tri-State Living. The winter edition will be out later this month and we are putting the finishing touches on what we feel is a very good follow up to our first issue.
Response was tremendous to the magazine that is designed to showcase all that is great about our entire region. Interesting people, interesting places and things that make this region special are the focus.
Our approach from the very beginning was to create a magazine that is all good news and showcases the best of the Tri-State.
Highlights of the second edition include a feature on volunteer extraordinaire Dianne Clement, a visit behind the lens with one of the area’s most talented photographers and a Harley ride with some “bikers” that break the stereotypes.
And of course we have all the standing features on health, living, food and shopping that people enjoyed from the first issue.
Look for the Winter edition of Tri-State Living later this month at any of hundreds of locations across the area.
Remember, it is free for pick-up so anywhere you see one, grab it.
If you would like it delivered to your home, just fill out the subscription card and send us the small payment to cover the mailing cost.
The second project is our annual Profile edition that publishes the last Sunday of February.
This special edition is our biggest project of the year and one we began working on in October.
It will have a little different look this year.
Profile will be in a tabloid format — this refers to the size of the newspaper not the content. No celebrity gossip here.
It will still be on newsprint but with a glossy, magazine-style cover.
A key benefit of this switch is that it creates more permanency.
The old format, that was about 14 sections and more than 100 pages, almost became disposable after it was read. It was so cumbersome and created such a jumbled mess that it could be difficult to put together again.
This change will allow Profile editions to be kept for years.
Plus, perhaps the biggest change will be that it will most likely be in full color.
That gives us more opportunity to showcase great stories and advertisements in the best possible way.
We have some great stories lined up about some interesting people in our communities. I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag yet, but stay tuned for a preview in upcoming weeks.
Anyone who would like more information about advertising in or receiving these products can give me a call or send me an e-mail.
Being a perpetual optimist, this new year offers new opportunities for The Tribune and the community.
