Coleen Carrico
Nov. 18, 1937 — Feb. 19, 2019
Coleen Hale “Cookie” Carrico, 81, of South Point, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland.
She was born Nov. 18, 1937 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late John and Lula Rice Hale. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Carrico; her siblings, Homer Hale, Jean Collins, Carl Hale, Dreama Hale, Juanita Hale, Helena Black and twin sister, Kathleen Hale.
She attended First Church of the Nazarene, South Point. Survivors include her son, Deron B. (Kimberly) Carrico of Proctorville, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emily Carrico.
We would like to give a special thanks to family, neighbors and special caregiver, Joyce Sanders. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating.
Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Olena Marie Wilson
April 28, 1929 — Feb. 21, 2019
Olena Marie Wilson, 89, of Pedro, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 at a local health care facility.
The Lawrence County native was born April 28, 1929, a daughter of the late William B. and Pluma Capper Callicoat. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence S. Wilson, who passed away Nov. 16, 2009.
Mrs. Wilson was a graduate of Waterloo High School and a former employee of CAO Headstart for more than 35 years. She was a member of the Symmes Valley Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Wilson; a son, Clarence D. Wilson; her stepmother, who raised her, Blanche Massie Callicoat; three brothers, Carter Callicoat, Harold Callicoat and Dale Callicoat; four sisters, Othella Dornon, Thelma Wilson, Rosalee Anderson and Phyllis Jean Boothe.
She is survived by a son: Danny R. (Vickie) Wilson, of Scottown; a daughter, Donna K. (John) Sheppard, of Willow Wood; a sister, Betty Jo (Pete) Vinning, of Delaware, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Shelly (Steve) Sloan, Ryan (Kimilee) Wilson, Julie Dillon, Kristie (Steve) Owens, Dustin Wilson, Michaela Sheppard and Jarod Sheppard; nine great grandchildren, Drew and Jenna Malone, Lilly Dillon, Wyatt and Levi Owens, Andy Sloan, Abi and Zayne Wilson and Bexlie Sheppard.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, with Pastor Roger Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Wilgus Fairview Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 4-6 p.m.at the funeral home.

Sallie Taylor
Feb. 20, 1924 — Feb. 20, 2019
Sallie R. Roberts Taylor, 95, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Feb 20, 2019 at her residence.
The Huntington, West Virginia native was born Feb 20, 1924, a daughter of the late Henry Ford Roberts and Elizabeth Barbour Bruce Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lange Taylor, who passed away April 8, 2006.
Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Russell High School and attended the Portsmouth Interstate Business School for one year. She was a former employee of ARMCO for 10 years during World War II and the Fivco District Health Department for 33 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ironton, where she was involved with the United Methodist Women’s Group for many years. She was also a member and past president of the Kentucky Public Health Association and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was an amateur bowler, an expert seamstress and an expert knitter as well.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James B. Roberts and Helm B. Roberts.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Y. (Michael) Porter-Cozart, of Ironton, and Robin L. Taylor, of Huntington; a brother, Henry F. Roberts, Jr., of Stone Mountain, Georgia; a sister, Nancy B. Lazear, of Ashland, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Steven White of Westerville, and Kelly (Tim) Morrison, of Columbus; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica White, of Chicago, Illinois, and Madi White, of Charleston, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S 7th St., Ironton, with Rev. Wayne Young officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.at the funeral home.
