The Ironton Council for the Arts will present a production of “Forever Plaid,” performed by The Paramount Players at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 in the Mains Rotunda in the Riffe Center at Ohio University Southern in Ironton.

The show features classic barbershop quartet harmonies and pitch-perfect melodies, as four guys, Sparky, Smudge, Jinx and Frankie, discover their shared love of music and together become their idols, The Four Freshmen, The Hi-Lo’s and The Crew Cuts.

The group rehearses in the basement of Smudge’s family’s plumbing supply company and together become “Forever Plaid.” On their way to their first big gig, the “Plaids” are broadsided by a school bus and killed instantly. It is at that moment when their careers and lives end, but the story of “Forever Plaid” begins.

Cast members for the show include Joshua Jannotta as Frankie, Thaddeus Stambaugh as Sparky, Rick Payne as Smudge, and Matt Hammond as Jinx.

The sounds of tight harmonies will bring back memories of sock hops and romantic evenings with songs including “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “Moments to Remember,” Sixteen Tons,” “Workin’ on the Chain Gang,” “Perfidia,” and “Heart and Soul and Love is a Many Splendored Thing.”

The show is only a one-time performance, so those interested do not want to miss out. The show is also produced through a special arrangement with Music Theater International.

Admission to “Forever Plaid” is $10, and tickets are available at the door of the performance. Ohio University students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
