Ironton police, fire departments investigating
The Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District received a bomb threat on Thursday afternoon, according to Ironton Police Detective Captain Joe Ross.
The threat came in via email and was sent to one of the district employees.
Ross said that the solid waste district office, and the two other businesses in the strip behind Wendy’s in Ironton, Beltone and Bellefonte Primary Care, were cleared following the threat.
“The Ironton Police Department and the Ironton Fire Department are currently investigating the situation,” Ross said. “We’re going to try to get a bomb dog down here to sniff around.”
He added that he didn’t know exactly how long that would take, and that the dog would probably be coming down from Columbus.
Ross also said that there is a possibility that other businesses or organizations have received the same bomb threat email. If anyone has seen such an email, contact Ross at 740-532-5606.
