A Proctorville man will serve five years in prison for drug trafficking.
Benjamin Vanover, 33, of Lot 72, Private Drive 267, Proctorville, pleaded guilty Wednesday to the charges in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Vanover was convicted of two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs.
In exchange for a guilty plea for the two counts, Lawrence County prosecutors agreed to drop a third charge, which was engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Vanover to 18 months on the first count, a fourth-degree felony, and five years in prison for the second count, a third-degree felony. Vanover’s sentences will run concurrently for a total of five years. Bowling also required Vanover to pay $7,500 in fines as well as court costs. Vanover’s bond was modified to $50,000 on his own recognizance and he was ordered to report to the Lawrence County Jail by 3 p.m. Jan. 19.
