JMU downs Herd; Ohio falls to Temple

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — Denzel Bowles had 34 points and 13 rebounds and Andrey Semenov also had a double-double as James Madison defeated Marshall 80-73 on Wednesday night.

The double-double was the 18th for Bowles, who scored at least 30 points for the fourth time in his career. He shot 13 for 21 from the field and 8 for 10 from the free-throw line.

Semenov had his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Dukes (9-3) won their third straight while the Thundering Herd (8-3) saw their five-game winning streak snapped.

James Madison rallied from a seven-point deficit in the first half, taking its first lead at 29-26 with 3:26 to go before halftime. The Dukes led 37-30 at the break.

After DeAndre Kane, who paced Marshall with 19 points, scored the first basket of the second half, the Thundering Herd could get no closer than seven and trailed by as many as 15.

Temple 76, Ohio 65

ATHENS (AP) — Rahlir Jefferson scored a career-high 18 points and Temple defeated Ohio 76-65 on Wednesday night for its sixth consecutive win.

Ramone Moore added 17 points, Khalif Wyatt had a career-high 14 points and Juan Fernandez had a career-high nine assists for the Owls (9-2), who improved to 5-0 against Mid American Conference teams this season.

Leading 40-33 at halftime, the Owls opened the second half on a 6-0 run to claim their largest lead of the game at 46-33 with 18:20 to play.

Ohio trimmed the lead to five points three minutes later, but the Owls pushed the lead back to double digits and led by at least eight in the final 7 minutes.

The Owls shot 50 percent (30 for 60) from the field and 42.1 percent (8 of 19) from 3-point range.

DeVaughn Washington scored 20 points, D.J. Cooper added 13 and Ivo Baltic had 12 for the Bobcats (6-6).
