Robert Hancock

Sept. 15, 1922 — Aug. 19, 2018

Robert L. Hancock, 95, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, at a local nursing home facility. Mr. Hancock was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Ironton, a son to the late Percy C. and Maybelle (Ball) Hancock. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Mrs. Helen “Jean” Kramer Hancock, whom he married Feb. 6, 1947.
Mr. Hancock was a 1940 graduate of Ironton High School. He was a U.S. veteran, proudly serving in the Army Air Corp. Mr. Hancock was a plant setup engineer in various locations to include Algeria and Iran, and a foreman for Allied Chemical. He was a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. and a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club, where he served as a local president and state lieutenant governor. He also served on the Honor Guard for the VFW in Bushnell, Florida. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ironton, and Lady Lake United Methodist Church in Lady Lake, Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Linda J. (Andrew) Carey and Kathleen M. (Patrick) Sheridan, both of Ironton, and Janet L. (Blair) Hall, of Wheelersburg; son, Robert K. (Teresa) Hancock, of Waverly; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, John C. (Lee) Hancock, of Louisville, Kentucky.
Graveside service will be noon Friday at Calvary Cemetery, Ironton, with Brother Chad Pemberton officiating. Graveside military rites will be by VFW Post 8850, and Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements. Clinton Knipp

July 6, 1953 — Aug. 20, 2018

Clinton Knipp, 65, of Waterloo, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton Campus. The Lawrence County native was born July 6, 1953, a son of the late Cyrus and Sophie Rose Knipp. He is survived by his wife, Martha Pettry Knipp, whom he married in 1996.
Clinton attended school in Blackfork and was a former supervisor at Grandview Hardware for more than 20 years. He was a member of Decatur Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Watkins.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Chace Stickler, Judith Brown Knipp, Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, Jimi Jo (Robert Sharp) Boggs, Charles (Gina Snyder) Hodge, Debbie Hodge and Darlene (Johnny Greenwall) Knipp; brothers, Normald, Albert and Merrill Knipp; sisters, Ida Marie Freeman, Betty Bloomfield, Minnie Bloomfield and Audrey Bloomfield; 14 grandchildren; three-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Carl Lawson and Ray (Melanie) Lawson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Decatur Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery, and visitation will be noon until the time of the service Friday at the church. Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements. Gertie Gollihugh Bragg

Nov. 4, 1924 — Aug. 21, 2018

Gertie Evelyn Gollihugh Bragg, 93, of Wheelersburg, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Harbor Health in Ironton. Gertie was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Ironton to the late Edgar and Clara Keyes Gollihugh.
She had worked as a waitress at various restaurants in the area. Her favorite hobby was quilting. Gertie was a child of God and attended many denominations over her lifetime.
In addition to her parents, Gertie was preceded in death by her two husbands, Ferlan Riley, and Dallas Bragg, who passed away Sept. 23, 2003, and whom she married Oct. 21, 1950, in Omar, West Virginia. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel Riley; four brothers, Charley, Lenval, Howard and Jerry Gollihugh; and five sisters, Marie Callender, Doris Stevens, Freda Gollihugh, Mary Elizabeth Riley and Bernice Mae Gaspers.
She is survived by a son, Donald Riley, of Michigan; four grandchildren, Matthre, Darrin, Delinda and Bryan; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Erma Jean Bruce; and she was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home, Wheelersburg, with Roger Lavender officiating. Interment will follow in Buckeye Cemetery. Lillian Edwards Webb

Dec. 21, 1918 — Aug. 22, 2018

Lillian Marjorie Edwards Webb, 99, of Ironton, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at a local health care facility. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 21, 1918, a daughter of the late David C. and Maude Cook Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, August Lee Webb, whom she married Nov. 7, 1940.
Mrs. Webb was a graduate of Washington School and a homemaker. She was a member of the Freedom Church in Kitts Hill.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Pancake; four brothers; and three sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Lavonne Stamper, of Wheelersburg, and Annette (Rick) Robinson, of Kitts Hill; a son, David (Gail) Webb, of Kitts Hill; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Matt Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
