WHEELERSBURG (AP) — State fire marshal investigators say a fire that killed three children in a southern Ohio home was accidental and caused by kerosene heater.
The state fire marshal’s office said Tuesday that the fire in Wheelersburg started in a hallway of the mobile home from the heater being too close to a wall or combustible materials.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate the victims died of smoke inhalation, burns or both.
The fire marshal’s office said the victims were 3-year-old Dwayne Stacey, 2-year-old Emily Stacey and 11-month-old Alexis Stacey.
A state fire marshal’s spokesman says the parents and another relative were injured trying to save the children from the Saturday night fire.
