COAL GROVE — The River Valley Lady Raiders went inside and out.
Cady Gilmore hit four 3-pointers and 6-foot center Brooke Marcum had 23 points as the Lady Raiders beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 58-36 Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“The Gilmore girl shot really well and when we came out to defend her, Marcum hurt us inside. It was hard for us to match up with them,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Rick Roach.
Ashley Adkins had 11 points and Darrien Hankins nine to lead the Lady Hornets (2-5, 0-2).
Gilmore — who finished with 15 points — hit three treys in the first quarter as River Valley (3-2, 2-0) took a 19-13 lead.
Coal Grove’s offense struggled in the second quarter and managed just three points to fall behind 30-16 at the break.
Marcum scored 10 points in the third quarter while the Lady Hornets got only five and trailed 40-21 at the end of the stanza.
Coal Grove plays at Green on Thursday.
