Bernice Stephenson

Nov. 14, 1937 — July 21, 2018

Bernice A. (nee Stamper) Stephenson, 80, of Montgomery, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. Bernice was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Pine Grove, was raised in Lawrence County and moved to Cincinnati in 2009. She graduated from Rock Hill High School in Pedro in 1955, and worked briefly as an operator with Ohio Bell and then became a homemaker as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Bernice was the beloved wife of the late Frank G. Stephenson; loving mother of Allen J. (Cheryl) Stephenson, Debra A. (Doug) Hankins and Carolyn L. (James) Nutter; cherished grandmother of Hollie Hankins, Sarah Board and Thomas J. Stephenson; great-grandmother of Wyatt Board and Natalie Hankins; dear sister of George Stamper, James Stamper, Edith Norris, Loretta Martin, Alfreda Tackett, Beverly Stapleton and Kathy Noel; and aunt of numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dorothy Gail Stephenson; her parents, Robert and Eliza (nee Small) Stamper; her siblings, Robert Stamper Jr., Walter R. Stamper, Stanley Stamper and Geraldine Tate; and her grandson, Joshua Hankins.
Inurnment will take place in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery, Pedro, at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in honor of Bernice and in memory of Joshua Hankins. Evans Funeral Home, Milford, is assisting the family. www.evansfuneralhome.com.

 

Mary Colley

Sept. 1, 1944 — July 19, 2018

Mary Ruth “Cookie” Colley, 73, of Jackson, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Hospice of Huntington, Huntington, West Virginia. She was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Ironton, and was the daughter of the late Rosalee Hankins Sites and Grover A. Hall.
She was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and was of the protestant faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Colley; brothers, Gary V. “Mic” Sites, Larry Lee Sites and Thomas V. “Tommy” Sites.
Survivors include sons, Charles Kevin (Fredelyn) Colley and Scott A. Colley, of Jackson; niece/daughter, Kayla (Matthew) Delong, of Ironton; granddaughter, Lilly Delong, of Ironton; sisters, Deanna J. Stephenson, of Tennessee, and Colleen (Tom) Coleman, of Ironton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 2-4 p.m. Thursday at Willis Funeral Home, Gallipolis.

 

Willa Mae Royal

Willa Mae Royal, 81, of Ironton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Community Hospice, Ashland, Kentucky. Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with visitation starting at 10 a.m.
