Lisa Bates-Mooney

April 14, 1973 — July 1, 2018

Lisa Dawn Bates-Mooney, 45, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018. She was born April 14, 1973, in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Alice Karen-Bates.
In addition to her mother, Alice, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Isadore and Nellie Bates; one aunt, Patty Hartman; and one uncle, Steven Bates.
She was a homemaker, a member of Raceland First Assembly of God and a 1991 graduate of Russell High School. She will be missed greatly by all those who were lucky enough to have the honor of knowing her.
Lisa is survived by her husband of 13 years, Jason Mooney; one daughter, Karsyn Bates; one son, Andrew Mooney; as well as a host of extended family and friends, all of whom cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home, Flatwoods, Kentucky, with Chad Haggard and Brian Harper officiating. Burial will be in Bates Cemetery on Happy Ridge. Eleanor Dalton

June 26, 1916 — July 1, 2018

Eleanor Jean Dalton, 102, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Dalton was born June 26, 1916, in Coal Grove, a daughter to the late Charles and June (Hussey) Remy. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Dalton, who passed away in June 1986.
Mrs. Dalton was a 1934 graduate of Coal Grove High School, she was a homemaker and a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Helen Remy Frazee; three brothers, Edward Remy, Charles Remy and Thomas Remy; and son-in-law, Judge Dennis Boll.
She is survived by three daughters, Elaine (Bob) Dalton Fetters, of Whispering Pines, North Carolina, Jeanie (Jim) Dalton Johnson, of Ironton, and Connie Dalton Boll, of Ironton; three grandchildren, Amy (Bill) Johnson Nance, Randy (Mary) Johnson and Stacey (Randy) Boll Bodmer; seven great-grandchildren, Abby (Jonathan) Nance Butler, Mason Nance, Caleigh Bodmer, Andy Bodmer, James Johnson, Emily (Johnny) Barrett and Jami (Dustin) Mitchell; four step-great-grandchildren, Kayla McIntosh, Klohe Lawson, Kip Lawson and Kerry Lawson; and four great-great-grandchildren, Tate Bodmer, Layne Nance, Spencer Mitchell and Athena Mitchell.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be noon until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. James Kelley

Dec. 12, 1947 — June 27, 2018

James P. Kelley, 70, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Dec. 12, 1947, a son of Olive McCall Kelley, of Ironton, and the late James E. Kelley. He is surived by his wife, Donna Aliff Kelley.
Mr. Kelley was a 1965 graduate of Ironton High School and attended Ohio University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a former employee for the C&O/CSX Railroad, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, and when he was younger, he liked playing tennis and was in a bowling league.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Samantha Razem, of Dublin, Ohio; a sister, Carol Hanshaw, of Ironton; three nephews, Zachary Miller, Chris Miller and David Miller, all of Ironton; and two grandchildren, Isabelle and Caraleigh Razem.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodland Cemetery with pastor Mike Huff officiating and military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850. Gary Massie

Jan. 23, 1952 — July 2, 2018

Gary Lee Massie, 66, of Pedro, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, at the James Cancer Center in Columbus. The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 23, 1952, to the late Vinson and Florence Massie.
Mr. Massie was of the Baptist faith and retired from The Oak Hill Foundry and Machine Shop. Gary was a family man, family first always. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on cars, and was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle and friend. Gary was a very strong man with a big heart. He loved, and was loved by so many. He will greatly be missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vickie Lou Massie.
Gary is survived by a daughter, Lee Ann (Mike) Gillispie, of Pedro; a daughter, Mary Massie Cochran, of Marion; a son, Gary Edgar “Eddie” (Kandie) Massie, of Ironton; a daughter, Hope Ann (Christopher “Spanky”) Long; nine grandchildren, Brittany, Bryar, Deven, Karlee, Teyonna, Gary “Lee,” Tyler, Dylan and Brandon; three brothers, Willie Massie, Orlyn (Kathy) Massie and Donald (Donna) Massie; three sisters, Mary Howard, Kathy Jiles and Barbara (Steve) Stephens; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Ronne Blagg officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant (Old Baptist Church) Cemetery, and visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Margaret Schwab

Aug. 8, 1920 — July 3, 2018

Margaret Cecilia Boll Schwab, 97, of Ironton, born Aug. 8, 1920, was received into heaven on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at her residence. Margaret was a graduate of Mercy Hospital, Portsmouth, as a registered nurse. She was a loving, dedicated wife and mother. Her faith was at the core of her being, directing her daily life. She inspired all who knew her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, George Andrew and Amelia Orthmyer Boll; her sisters, Clara Medinger, Genevieve Boll, Agnes Kline Sr., Paulette Boll, Martha Boll Sr. and Monica Boll; her brothers, Joseph Boll, Herman Boll, Anthony Boll and George Boll; her husband of 56 years, John Francis Schwab; and her daughter, Rose Marie Schwab.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Bernadette (Michael) Kinney, and sister-in-law, Ruby Boll; as well as her children, John and Tamara (Jennifer, Sarah, Ryan, Kathleen), Joseph and Leslie (Joseph Jr., Jacqualine, Darrell and Jeremy), Thomas (Stuart, Sophie, Spencer, Mary Elizabeth), Mary and Louie (Maria, David), Theresa and Redgie (Amelia, Rebecca), Clara and Joe (Samuel, Matthew, Joshua), Catherine (Luke), and Ruth and Doug (Toni, Brett, Doug Jr., Garrett).
Visitation will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. Friday at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home, Ironton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pine Grove.
