Several plead in common pleas

Numerous defendants made pleas this week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

• Carrie Copley, age and address unknown, pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, a fourth-degree felony. Judge Andy Ballard sentenced her to 90 days in jail with credit for 70 days served, three years community-controlled sanctions (CCS) under intensive supervised probation (ISP) with 11 months reserved, and ordered her to complete STAR and 200 hours community service.

• Christopher Dishman, 49, of 1923 Liberty Ave., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor. Ballard set bond at $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 27.

• Larry V. Fox, 62, of 59 Township Road 1426, South Point, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for July 3.

• Ashley N. Gardner, 34, of 1539 County Road 21, Ironton, previously pleaded not guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine, Alprazolam), one third-degree felony and one fifth-degree felony, two counts of possession of drugs (methamphetamine), both third-degree felonies, tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony, and illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution, a felony of the third-degree. A pretrial was set for June 27, where the state will give her a final offer. If she rejects the state’s offer, trial is set for July 30.

• Bobby D. Jenkins, 39, of 1350 Township Road 179, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to four counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), two third-degree and two fourth-degree felonies. Ballard set bond at $40,000 cash or surety and $80,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 20.

• Daniel S. Jenkins, 40, of 235 Memorial St., Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs (methylphenidate hydrochloride), a third-degree felony. Ballard sentenced him to 18 months in prison with credit for time served.

• Wanda L. Jenkins, 55, of 401 Center St., Apt. 8, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, possession of drugs (Diazepam), a first-degree misdemeanor, and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor. Ballard set bond at $30,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 27.

• Jonny E. Keaton Jr., 26, of 133 Township Road 332, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and $50,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 27.

• Joshua B. Kelley, 32, of 122 Center St., Coal Grove, pleaded not guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for July 3.

• Frank G. Lewis, 36, of 317 ½ Kemp Ave., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and theft, a felony of the fifth-degree. Ballard set bond at $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 27.

• Tyrone Markel, 42, of 412 N. Sixth St., Ironton, previously pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), all fourth-degree felonies in one case, and possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, in a second case. Ballard amended his bond to $5,000 cash or surety and $25,000 OR and placed him on GPS home confinement. Pretrial was set for June 27, where the state will give him a final offer. If he rejects the state’s offer, trial is set for July 30-31.

• George M. Massie, 35, of 1116 County Road 182, Kitts Hill, pleaded not guilty to having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony, and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. Ballard set bond a t $5,000 cash or surety and $25,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 27.

• Gary M. McComas, 22, of 2442 Harvey Road, Huntington, West Virginia, pleaded not guilty to improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $7,000 cash or surety and $25,000 OR. Pretrial was set for July 3.

• Candice McFann, 33, of 181 Township Road 324, Pedro, denied CCS violations. Ballard set CCS trial for June 13.

• Sammy Scott, 32, of 3836 Logan St., Ashland, Kentucky, previously pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking in heroin, all fifth-degree felonies. Ballard sentenced him to two years in prison. If he maintains a good record in prison, he will be eligible for release to STAR after one year.

• Nancy A. Walker, 37, of 1807 Ellen Drive, Flatwoods, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for July 3.

• William C. Webb, 32, of 101 S. Ninth St., Ironton, admitted CCS violations. Ballard sentenced him to six months in prison and ordered him to pay court costs.

• James B. Barton, 46, of 415 Etna St., Apt. D, Russell, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine) and possession of heroin, both fifth-degree felonies. Judge Charles Cooper set bond at $10,000 OR.

• Benjamin Scott Hughes, 43, of 1200 Vine St., Ironton, or 3666 State Route 93, Ironton, pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), all fourth-degree felonies in one case, and possession of drugs (methylin), a fifth-degree felony. Cooper sentenced him to three years in prison.

• Zachary F. Dunn, 26, of 105 Township Road 124, Chesapeake, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $2,500 cash or surety and $10,000 OR.

• David M. Martin, 33, of 4553 Valley View Drive, Ashland, Kentucky, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. Cooper sentenced him to five years in prison and ordered him to pay $2,799 in restitution to U.S. Bank.

• Brittany R. McComas, 35, of 14347 Twin Ridge Court, Ashland, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to two counts of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, both second-degree felonies, and theft of a firearm, a felony of the third-degree. Cooper set bond at $40,000 property and $40,000 OR.

• Curtis M. Runyon, 30, of 327 Township Road 1057, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. Cooper sentenced him to four years CCS under ISP with 17 months reserved, and ordered him to complete treatment at Mended Reeds.

• Robert L. Watkins, 57, of 4647 County Road 52, Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (Oxycodone), a fifth-degree felony. Cooper sentenced him to four years CCS under ISP with 11 months reserved, and ordered him to complete treatment at Mended Reeds.

• Seth L. White, age and address unknown, pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony. Cooper set sentencing for June 27.
