Eddy Test participants announced

The Ironton Child Welfare Club has announced the participants for the 2017-2018 Eddy Test, which is given to the top 25 percent of sixth grade students from Ironton Middle School and State Lawrence Catholic School based on state and national testing.
The test covers reading vocabulary, reading comprehension, math problem solving, math computation, language, spelling, science and social studies, and the top one-third of the participants, along with their parents, will be honored as Eddy Winners at a banquet hosted by the Child Welfare Club on Thursday, May 10.
The test will take place Thursday, and the Child Welfare Club will provide lunch for the participants. A total of 35 students will participate.

Students from St. Lawrence School taking the test include Meleah Jankowski, daughter of Dr. James Jankowski and Mrs. Adrianne Jankowski; Ava Weber, daughter of Dr. Nick Weber and Mrs. Mary Beth Weber; and Olivia Woods, daughter of Scott and Amy Woods.
The Child Welfare Club established this program 57 years ago, and it remains the club’s longest continuous project. The Eddy Award was established to identify students who attain superior academic achievement in the sixth grade.
