Monroe promoted from interim to full-time
In a unanimous decision by the Lawrence County Board of Developmental Disabilities at its December board meeting, Julie Monroe was named the full-time superintendent of the agency.
Monroe has been serving as the interim superintendent since September, and with the 7-0 vote, will officially begin in the permanent position on Jan. 21, 2018. The board reviewed other candidates and all of its options, but Monroe’s time as the interim superintendent allowed the board members and staff to make the decision.
“As a resident of Lawrence County, I am very pleased to have the opportunity to serve the Lawrence County Board of DD in this leadership capacity,” Monroe said. “I look forward to working with the board, staff members and community stakeholders to assure access to high quality and individualized services for the hundreds of children and adults served by our agency, and their families.”
Monroe has served in the field of developmental disabilities for 26 years, with 20 of those under the employment of the Scioto County Board of DD. In 2013, she served as the interim superintendent before becoming the full-time superintendent in 2014.
Monroe is a resident of Ironton and is also actively involved with regional and state boards and committees that focus on the field of developmental disabilities.
