Crash under investigation by Ohio State Highway Patrol
An Ironton man was killed Tuesday night after he was struck by an SUV.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at 5:51 p.m. a 2003 Ford Escape, driven by William Counts, 49, of South Point, was going west on U.S. 52 after coming off the bridge in the west end of Huntington. He was attempting to merge into traffic when he struck 48-year-old James A. Hildreth, who was in the roadway.
Hildreth was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, where he died of injuries sustained during the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by the OSHP.
