Donations needed include non-perishable food, baby food, cleaning supplies

PROCTORVILLE — Teresa Chapter  #257 of Order of the Eastern Star will be collecting items for Hurricane Harvey relief on Saturday.

Donations will be taken from from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Proctorville Masonic Lodge, located at 340 Front Street.

Acceptable items include nonperishable food, baby food and formula, bottled water, toiletry items, cleaning supplies, diapers, wipes, towels, sheets, blankets and pillows, toilet paper, rubber and disposable gloves, plastic silverware, paper or Styrofoam plates and cups and dog and cat food.

Cash donations will not be accepted at this location.

Thousands were displaced in Texas on Aug. 25 as Hurricane Harvey, a Category 4 storm, dropped 52 of rain over the Houston area. At least 70 people drowned in the flood.

On Wednesday, the U.S. House  of Representatives passed a $4.9 billion aid package to help the victims of the hurricane.
