Lady Vikings breeze past New Boston 11-1 in SOC

NEW BOSTON — Young and old, they all hit.
The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings collected 12 hits as they beat the New Boston Lady Tigers 11-1 in a five-inning Southern Ohio Conference game on Tuesday.
“We got a chance to play some of the younger girls and we hit up and down the lineup. It was a good game for us,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.
The Lady Vikings erupted for 10 runs in the third.
Hannah Newcomb was hit by a pitch, Kara Saunders walked, and Hannah Gates reached on an error. Emily Sharp walked and Ericca Ross had an RBI single.
Sarah Kingery and Rachel Hayes both singled for RBIs.
A run scored on a wild pitch, Sharp walked, Ross and Kingery both had two-run singles and Hayes scored on a wild pitch.
Taylor Webb singled, moved up on an error and scored on a hit by Sierra Ross for the Lady Vikings’ final run in the fifth.
Kingery and Ericca Ross each went 2-3 with three RBI while Webb went 2-4.
Kingery picked up the pitching win as she allowed only one hit, struck out seven and walked one.
Symmes Valley hosts Portsmouth Notre Dame on Wednesday.
