FRANKLIN FURNACE — Tanner Kimbler didn’t want to do any more than he had to do.
Kimbler threw just 63 pitches over five innings as the Green Bobcats beat the Sciotoville East Tartans 11-1 on Monday. He struck out nine and did not walk a batter as he allowed just four hits.
“Kimbler was very efficient. He threw strikes and was pitching ahead in the count,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
“We got a big hit from Tyler Darnell that opened the game up and we played error-free defense which is something we’ve been needing.”
Green (10-3, 7-0) erupted for eight runs in the second.
Hayden Whitis walked, Rylie Maynard was hit by a pitch and Chase Clark beat out an infield hit.
With two outs, Kimbler singled for a run, Tyler Darnell had a three-run double, Tayte Carver doubled in Darnell, Trevor Carver had an RBI single and moved up on a wild pitch, Drew Ramey singled in a run.
Ramey went to second on balk and scored when Whitis reached on an error.
Lowe singled in East’s lone run in the third and Green came back with two runs in the fourth.
Kimbler was hit by a pitch, Darnell hit into a force play, Tayte Carver walked and Trevor Carver singled in a run. Ramey walked and Whitis hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored.
