Gallipolis topples Rock Hill, 6-3

PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redmen had their pitching, hitting and defense working on Wednesday.
Someone must have turned all three switches off on Thursday.
The Redmen gave up 10 hits, committed four errors and had only six hits in a 6-3 Ohio Valley Conference loss to the Gallipolis Blue Devils.
Jeremy Brumfield got the complete game win for Gallipolis as he struck out four, walked two and gave up two earned runs.
Gallipolis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a double by John Stout, Braden Simms’ sacrifice and a double by Brumfield.
Rock Hill (5-2, 3-2) came back to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning.
Jake Blagg singled and scored on three passed balls. Logan Hankins doubled, stole third and scored on a hit by Landon Smith.
The Blued Devils got three runs in the second to take the lead for good.
With two outs, Tanner Allen singled, Stout doubled him home, Simms singled for an RBI, Garrett McGuire was hit by a pitch and Brody Thomas had an RBI single.
Rock Hill got within 4-3 in the third when Hankins singled, moved up on a passed ball and scored on an error.
Gallipolis got two insurance runs in the fifth.
Brumfield walked, Cole Davis hit into a force play and then Dylan Smith and Allen singled for a run. Smith scored on a throwing error from the outfield.
Hankins was 2-3 to lead the Redmen.
Rock Hill hosts Coal Grove at noon on Saturday.
