Three meetings scheduled

The Ironton City Council members will have a long evening tonight.
The council’s finance committee will meet at 5 p.m., then there will be their regular meeting at 6 p.m. and the Public Utility Committee will meet after that.
The regular meeting has a small agenda with just two ordinances.
The first is to authorize the mayor to enter into an agreement with E.L. Robinson to provide general engineering services to the city. The contract calls for costs not to exceed $25,000 for 2017.
The second ordinance is to designate Finance Director John Elam as the council’s designee to attend training sessions on Ohio’s Public Records Law. The city was recently cited by the Auditor of State for not having anyone attend those meetings in 2013 and 2014.
The city was also cited for not having the Council minutes available for public viewing in a prompt manner and for not having those minutes signed by the clerk, the vice mayor and the mayor for the years 2013 and 2014. The most recent copies of the minutes have had the required signatures.
The Public Utilities Committee will likely go into executive session to discuss an ongoing combined sewer overflow project and pending litigation.
The Ironton City Council meets in council chambers on the third floor of the Ironton City Center.
