Betty Jo Lasitter
Betty Jo Abrams Lasitter, 72, of Ironton, was born to the late William Isaac and Lucy Kibbey Abrams. Betty went to her final resting place in Heaven on April 5, 2017.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Jimmie Lasitter; her three children, Susan (Ron) Rush, of St. Pete, Florida, Donnie (Stacie) Blair, of Huntington, West Virginia, and Gina Faye (Ronnie) McCabe, of Ironton; grandson, Ronnie (Esta) McCabe, of Ironton; and a special great-granddaughter, Haylee McCabe, of Ironton.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Ethel Mae Jackson and Nancy Jackson; and one brother, Ike Abrams, all of Ironton.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Temple Church, Huntington, West Virginia, with Jim “Fuzzbo” Hannah officiating. Kenneth Turner
March 9, 1918 — April 10, 2017
Kenneth R. “Bud” Turner, 99, of Ironton, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at a local health care facility. The Ashland, Kentucky native was born March 9, 1918, a son of the late Frank and Mary Carr Turner. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edna Bowen Turner, whom he married in June of 1947.
Bud attended Ashland City Schools and was a U.S. Army/Air Force World War II veteran. He was a maintenance foreman for Allied Signal, retiring in 1980 after more than 31 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Turner and Doris Kennedy; and a brother, Ralph L. Turner.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara (John) Houston, of Ironton; three sons, Rodney (June) Turner, and Michael (Dawn) Turner, all of Lexington, Kentucky, and Keith (Kathy) Turner, of Cincinnati; two sisters, Verna Mae “Bun” Sloan, and Madge Roach, both of Ironton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the V.F.W. Dora Blunk
Nov. 5, 1926 — April 12, 2017
Dora Lee Blunk, 90, of South Point, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Jo-Lin Health Center, Ironton. Dora was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Holden, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Russell Spaulding and Flossie Mullens Spaulding.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry A. Lyons; and second husband, James William Blunk. She was a member of South Point Christian Church.
Dora is survived by her children, Jerry Dale Lyons, of South Point, Kay Lyons (Thomas) Donnally, of South Port, North Carolina, and Tara (John) Gibson, of South Point; a sister, June (Amerigo) Testani, of Livonia, Michigan; two brothers, Clyde (Polly) Spaulding, of Howard, and Bob (JoAnn) Spaulding, of Amesville; seven grandchildren, Keith Lyons, Jeri Ann Fuller, Russell Lyons, Myles Gibson, Evelynne Gibson, Adalynne Gibson and Serianna Gibson; eight great-grandchildren, Kayla Corley, Brooke Lyons, Kaylee McCormack, Bradlee McCormack, Chase Fuller, Lucas Fuller, Carson Lyons and Addison Lyons; and two great-great-grandchildren, Sawyer Corley and Marshall Corley.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Jerry Greenslait and John Gibson officiating. Entombment will follow at Ridge Lawn Memorial Park, Huntington, West Virginia.
