BEAVER — The weather wiped out the past two days for the Green Bobcats and there was doubt about playing on Wednesday.
But the Bobcats did play and they played well as they beat the Eastern Eagles 6-2 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Tanner Kimbler pitched a five-hitter in going the distance to get the win. He struck out nine and walked just one.
“We took care of business. We can’t control the weather so we just have to go out and perform when we get a chance to play,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
“Another great effort from Tanner Kimbler. He’s 3-0 with three complete games. And we hit the ball and Trevor Carver had a big night for us.”
Green (5-1, 3-0) snapped a scoreless tie with four runs in the top of the third inning.
Kimbler, Tyler Darnell and Tayte Carver singled to load the bases and Trevor Carver followed with a two-run single. Hayden Whitis hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored and Rylee Maynard had an RBI single to cap the rally.
Eastern got a run in the bottom of the third but Green got a two-out, two-run rally in the fourth.
Darnell walked, Tayte Carver reached on an error and Trevor Carver singled for a run. A wild pitch scored the second run.
Trevor Carver was 2-3 with three runs batted in and Tayte Carver went 3-4 as Green collected 10 hits.
Green visits Portsmouth Clay on Friday.
