AID — Now that’s keeping it all in the family.
Brothers Trevor Carver and Tayte Carver combined on a four-hitter as the Green Bobcats beat the Symmes Valley Vikings 8-2 in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Saturday.
Tayte Carver went the first three innings before giving way to Trevor who finished up to get the win for Green (4-1, 2-0).
Trevor struck out seven, waked four and gave up two hits. Tayte fanned four, walked two and allowed two hits.
“Tayte felt a little twinge and we decided not to take a chance with him,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
“It was Trevor’s first pitching out of the year and he pitched pretty well. Tyler Darnell had a big game which is something you look to get from a senior.”
Darnell was 2-3 with two runs batted in and four stolen bases. Tayte Carver was 2-4 with a double.
Green jumped in front 2-0 in the first inning.
Tanner Kimbler walked, Darnell got an infield hit and Tayte Carver walked to load the bases. Trevor Carver hit a sacrifice fly and a throwing error on the play scored the second run.
Rylie Maynard was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a hit by Kimbler to make it 3-0 in the second.
A run scored in the third with two outs when Derrick Brown walked, stole second and came home on a hit by Maynard.
The Bobcats scored three more in the fifth.
Brown walked to start the inning and went to second on a sacrifice by Chase Clark. Kimbler was intentionally walked and both moved up on a wild pitch. Darnell followed with a two-run single and Tayte Carver doubled him home.
The Vikings (3-4, 0-2) got on the scoreboard in the sixth with two runs.
Nick Klaiber walked, Derek Brace was safe on an error and Hunter Adams had an RBI single. Austin Mannon and Forest Humphrey walked to force in a run.
Green added an insurance run in the seventh. Ethan Carver walked, stole second and Trevor Carver had an RBI single.
On Monday, Symmes Valley hosts Western and Green entertains Beaver Eastern in league games.
