Eva Maynard

Aug. 14, 1955 — March 5, 2017

Eva Jane (Donley) DeLawder Maynard left this world on Sunday, March 5, 2017. She was born in Oak Hill on Aug. 14, 1955.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Maynard, of Chesapeake; daughters, Lena Renee DeLawder and Rebecca (Andrew) Linn; four granddaughters, Josey Linn and Kaelyn Linn, both of Waverly, and Emily Linn and Morgan Linn, both of Medina, Tennessee; brother, Thomas (Margaret) Donley, of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Evelyn Donley; sister, Bonnie Jones; brother, Marlin Donley; and her stepson, that she adored, Donald H. DeLawder Jr.
If you met her, then you met true kindness. If you knew her, then you knew love.
She was a devoted wife, a caring sister, a loving mother and a super fun granny who made every day an adventure and always a good memory. An incredible nurse for over 30 years, touching the lives of many, she was a champion for the elderly and our nations veterans through her dedicated years at Bristol Village in Waverly, and The VA Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.
After graduating from Ironton High School, Eva went to Buckeye Hills to earn her Practical Nursing License and later went on to receive her RN, from the University of Rio Grande, which has graciously helped to set up a nursing scholarship in her memory.
Visitation will be on 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Kentucky. Joyce Gannon

Oct. 11, 1932 — March 6, 2017

Joyce Jean “Joy” Gannon, 84, of Ironton, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 11, 1932, the daughter of the late Charles and Laura (McConnell) Mootz. She is survived by her husband, Harold Lee Gannon, whom she married on Dec. 5, 1955.
Joyce graduated in 1949 as the valedictorian of Kitts Hill High School and a member of Marion Methodist Church in Aid. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Allen’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She loved being a mammaw, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and doing crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Daniel, Carroll, Robert, Charles, Duane and John Mootz; two sisters, Marie Rubedor and Nancy Harrison; and a step-grandson, Eric Bolton
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, John (Donna) Gannon, of Franklin Furnace, and Doug (Tenia) Gannon, of Leesburg; four daughters, Yvonne (Ralph) Colegrove, of Ironton, Laura (Mike) Harley, of Olathe, Kansas, Jenifer (Jeff) Jenkins, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Michelle (Donnie) Hendricks, of Loveland; grandchildren, John (Dawn) Gannon and children, Titus and Scarlett, Ryan (Ashton) Gannon and children, Eli and Griffyn, Kalee Joy Gannon, Eddie (Amy) Colegrove and daughter, Madison, Sara Harley, Ellen Harley and her fiancé, Forrest Goyer, Aaron Jenkins, Vanessa Jenkins, Drew Hendricks and Tyler Hendricks; step-grandchildren, Jessica Vernatter and son, Jacob, Jessica Harley (Tony Kocica) and daughter, Lily, Tom (Shai) Harley and children, Jaelon and Brynn, Matt (Angel) Harley and son, Milo; and also step-great-grandchildren, Evyn, Ethyn, and Barbara Bolton; brother, Keith (Sheila) Mootz, of Kitts Hill; sisters-in-law, Deloris Mootz, Willa Jean Mootz, Lexie Jean Freier, Lois Sites, and Glenna Plymale; and brother-in-law, Ronnie (Linda) Gannon.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Dale Mootz officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Garnet Sturgill

Garnet Lucille Sturgill, 80, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, West Virginia. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

David Thacker

David Anthony Thacker, 55, of Proctorville, died Friday, March 3, 2017, at home. There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Brady Ruggles

Brady Harlan Ruggles, 96, of Fayettesville, Arkansas, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017.
Services were conducted on Friday, March 3, in Springdale, Arkansas.
