Chateau D’Italia in Chesapeake is planning an event to help bring education to the issue of stalking.
January is Stalking Awareness Month and the restaurant has scheduled a benefit dinner for Saturday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m., the second year that is has done so.
“We did it last year and it raised money for CONTACT Rape Crisis Center in Huntington,” owner Toni Karle said. “We’re offering a nice dinner at the lowered price of $15. We hope, because of the lower price that people will donate to CONTACT.”
The dinner will also feature musical entertainment, and CONTACT’s executive director, Lou Pyles, will speak at the event.
“If more people learn to recognize stalking, we have a better chance to protect victims and prevent tragedies,” Pyles said in a statement.
Chateau D’Italia is located at 1293 Township Road 158 outside Chesapeake. Karle said those interested in attending can find directions on the restaurant’s website at www.chateauditalia.com.
