The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers must like the 70s.
Not the 1970s, but the 70-point range as they scored more than 70 points for the third time in four games as they beat the Portsmouth Lady Trojans 75-35 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Lexi Wise had a game-high 23 points and Lexie Arden scored 18 as Ironton ran its record to 11-4 on the season and 7-1 in the OVC.
Alyssa Lewis added 13 points and Taiya Hamlet scored eight points for Ironton.
Mya Williams had nine points and Kylisha Kearns eight to pace Portsmouth.
Lewis scored five points while Sydney Webb and Hamlet had four each in the first quarter and Ironton led 16-9. Hannah Hughes had four points for the Lady Trojans.
Arden scored six points and Wise had five as Ironton extended its lead to 32-20 at the half.
Wise knocked down 12 points and Arden scored seven more as Ironton blitzed Portsmouth 25-9 in the third quarter to open up a comfortable 57-29 lead.
Wise and Lewis combined for 10 points in the fourth quarter as Ironton continued to pull away.
On Monday, Ironton hosts Fairland on Monday in a showdown for first place in the league while Portsmouth entertains Coal Grove.
