Grandview Weekend Outlet is still open, despite its building being for sale.
The store was listed with Murdock Realty last week, owner Don Ashworth said. A sign was posted on the business last Friday.
“It’s really nothing major. We just kind of wanted to consolidate some things,” Ashworth said.
The approximately 23,000-square-foot building is listed for $599,000, real estate agent Donna Murdock confirmed. The business will not be included in the sale.
Ashworth said the company plans to liquidate the store merchandise and close the store if the building sells. He added that there are no plans to relocate employees.
Ashworth owns 21 stores in Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois including a home improvement store in South Point. Fifteen of the stores are weekend outlet stores.
One other store, located in Cincinnati, has also been put up for sale. The company also plans to sell two others, Ashworth said.
The weekend outlet stores sell closeout and buyback products from major department stores.
“We’re having trouble getting products for all 15 outlet stores,” Ashworth said.
Ashworth said the business will stay open until it is sold.
“Business is normal. We stocked it this week,” he said.
The owner said he has not heard if there has been interest in the building, though he thinks it will sell.
“I priced it to sell,” he said. “If I was looking for a location in Ironton, I would buy it. It should sell. I anticipate it selling. It’s a good location.”
