Turkey dinner epitomizes unified effort

It was like Thanksgiving, a family reunion and a Who’s Who of Lawrence County all wrapped into one.

Best of all it was for a great cause.

The Ironton Catholic Schools Support Organization hosted the annual Turkey dinner Sunday, drawing hundreds of visitors and serving more than 2,000 dinners.

The success of this event is a testament not only to the good job that the Catholic schools are doing educating many of our youth but also to the amount of community support for this institution.

It is always encouraging when the community rallies around great causes and gets involved in making a difference.

This event is the Catholic school’s largest fundraiser of the year and wouldn’t have been possible without the work of many.

Staff and faculty at the private schools worked hard on this. The students pitched in to make a difference. And citizens came out to support it.

This unified spirit of cooperation will help give the catholic schools the resources it needs to provide the best education possible.

This togetherness perfectly fits as The Tribune’s “Good News, Good Neighbors” feature this week.

Other groups and organizations can take note of this success and build on it for their own fundraisers. The key is finding something that resonates within the community and has a positive impact on all involved.

The turkey dinner is certainly that and goes well beyond just full bellies.
