PORTSMOUTH — This time the bad times outweighed the good.
The Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans had more good times as they beat the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 60-42 on Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
“We would play with them for a while and then they would have a stretch where they scored eight to 10 points and we didn’t and that was the difference,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Alvin Carpenter.
Symmes Valley (3-3, 3-2) led 6-5 after the first quarter as Jensyn Shepherd scored all of the Lady Vikings’ points.
But Notre Dame began the second quarter with a 10-0 run and pulled away to a 31-18 halftime lead.
Kaitlyn Crabtree scored 6 points in the second quarter to keep the Lady Vikings within striking distance.
The Lady Titans out scored Symmes Valle3y 18-7 in the third quarter despite Payton Walsh’s 6 points.
Shepherd had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Vikings. Walsh had 8 points, 6 assists and 3 steals.
