St. Paul Lutheran hosts 13th annual ‘Christmas with Dignity’

Six hundred boxes of food were given away during the 13th annual Christmas with Dignity event at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironton.

“It’s a way of alleviating the financial pressure of families during this time of year,” pastor Wayne Rollins said. “It’s enough food to provide for an average family for three to four days, and that amount of money can be used for gifts or bills that need to be paid.”

Rollins added that the Christmas with Dignity event is an extension of the church’s monthly food pantries, and the boxes are of frozen food from Atlantic Foods based in Cincinnati.

“We give them the boxes and then we add some produce and bread depending on what’s available,” Rollins said.

Along with St. Paul Lutheran Church, All Saints Church in Worthington and the Lutheran Social Services Mobile Food Pantry make the event possible.

“There is a lot of need for food during this time of year,” Jeannine Tordiff, member of the church and chairperson for this event, said. “We try to help everyone out during Christmas time.”

Volunteers from St. Paul Lutheran, All Saints Church and Lutheran Social Services assisted with the event.
