Charles Self

May 11, 1972 — Nov. 26, 2016

Charles Ray Self, 44, of Willow Wood, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at his residence. The Huntington, West Virginia native was born May 11, 1972, a son of Charles Allen and Beverly Mae Thompson Self of Willow Wood.
Charles was a 1990 graduate of Symmes Valley High School and a bus driver for the Open Door School. He was president of the Izaak Walton Lake Lawrence County Chapter, loved to deer hunt with his family and spend time with his sons, Josh and Sammy. He also loved fishing and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Charles and Neva Self and Gerald and Ethel Thompson; two cousins, Jerry Lee Corbin and Jimmy White; and two uncles, Jerry “Butch” Thompson and Leon White.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Joshua Self and Sammy Giles, both of Willow Wood; a sister, Tamara (Danny) Self Haydon, of Willow Wood; two grandchildren, Alexis Giles and William Giles; and his ex-wife, Cindy Self, of Willow Wood.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Mike Triplett officiating. Shaun Banfield

Shaun Michael Banfield, 37, of Anchorage, Alaska, formerly of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, in Anchorage. Shaun lived all his life in the Ironton area of Lawrence County except for the last five years. He was a welder and a member of the Millwright’s in Anchorage. Shaun was born in Ashland, Kentucky to Carol Banfield, of Ironton, and Tony Boster, of Chesapeake. He is the grandson of Alfred and Elizabeth Banfield, of Ironton.
Also surviving is his girlfriend, the love of his life and the mother of his children, Aurora Thibault, of Anchorage; his son, Hans Michael Banfield, of Anchorage; his daughter, Alsta Dawn Thibault, of Anchorage; two brothers, Josh and Justin Boster, of Chesapeake; uncles, Tom Moore, Gary Banfield and Brian Morris, all of Ironton; aunts, Alvina Moore and Margaret Banfield, of Ironton; many cousins and friends who mourn his passing; and one special friend, Rebecca Phelps, of Anchorage.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with the Rev. Jim Kerns officiating. Burial will follow at The Community Cemetery, Deering. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Gary Banfield, Jeremy Collins, Brandon and Aaron Moore, Tom Moore, Brian Morris, Bill Hern and Jeremy Dickess. Tony Griffin

Tony Keith Griffin, 66, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Full Gospel Assembly Church, Huntington. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Ray Hall
Ray Hall, 74, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at his residence. The Harold, Kentucky native was born Feb. 16, 1942, a son of the late Claude and Wilma Keathley Hall. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sharlene “Tootsie” Whitaker Hall, who passed away July 2, 2001.
Mr. Hall attended school in Betsy Lane, Kentucky, and was a self-employed construction worker for 38 years. He attended Lawrence Furnace Methodist Church and had a great love and faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He enjoyed the outdoors by hunting and fishing, loved to work in the garden and had a passion for photography.
He is survived by a daughter, Janet (Keith Franklin) Grabowski, of Pound, Virginia; his girlfriend, Vicki Aldridge, of Ironton; two stepdaughters, Dana (Matt) Miller and Vana (T.J. Jewel) Aldridge, all of Ironton; two grandsons, Thomas Miller and Jared Aldridge, both of Ironton; five brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jim Lee Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. George Lewis Fuller, 77, of Proctorville, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Donna Fuller. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Marijane Littlejohn

Patricia Path

Patricia Ann Path, 81, of Ashland, Kentucky, formerly of Muskegon, Michigan, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at the South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Shore, Kentucky. She is survived by her husband, Elwood (Al) Path. Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Friday in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Muskegan, Michigan. Friends may call 1 p.m. Thursday at Patricia’s daughter’s home to pay respects to Patricia and the family. Her children have entrusted her care to Brown Funeral Chapel, Ironton.

Jeanie Rife
