Jeremiah Horner

Feb. 1, 1939 — Sept. 25, 2016

Jeremiah (Jerry) Jason Horner, 77, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Kentucky. The Scioto County native was born Feb. 1, 1939, the son of the late Charles “Bud” and Christine Fraley Horner. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edna Stapleton Horner, whom he married on Jan. 29, 1961.
Mr. Horner was a graduate of Green Township High School and worked for National Mines as a machinist for 23 years. Mr. Horner was a Boy Scout Leader for approximately 15 years and received the “Order of the Arrow” award and was of the Baptist faith. Jerry’s life centered around his close family and friends. He was always trying to help others and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence Horner, Homer Horner, Paul Horner, Charles Horner and David Horner; five sisters, Bertha Horner Brown, Cora Horner Horn, Betty Horner, Thelma Horner Munion and Christine Horner.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Gerald (Debra) Horner, of Franklin Furnace, Sheryl (Scott) Horner Salyers, of Ashland, Kentucky, Randy Horner of Ironton, and Kevin “Rocky” (Diann) Horner, of Kenova, West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jessica Salyers, of Huntington, Dallas Horner, of Kenova, Wesley Horner, of Ironton, Jason Salyers, of Ashland, Amanda (Stephen) Stover, of South Point, Sarah (Cody) Bartram, of Ashland, and Shannon (Mike) Whitis, of Wheelersburg; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Arthurs officiating. Burial will follow in the Horner Family Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. today and from noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Donald Christian

Donald D. Christian, 60, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. He is survived by his wife, Connie Christian. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery, Willow Wood. Ruby Rash, 95, of Canton, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at McKinley Health Care, Canton. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Dever

Robert J. Dever Jr. (Bobby), 53, of Coal Grove, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, in Denver, Colorado. Bobby is survived by his wife, Juanita Jane Bryant Dever. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
