Carol Kitts

March 23, 1955 — Sept. 23, 2016

Carol Jane Kitts, 61, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at her residence in Ironton. The Ironton native was born a daughter to the late Frank A. and Wanda L. (Johnson) Kitts on March 23, 1955.
Carol was a 1973 graduate of Rock Hill High School.  She went on to serve at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sergeant where she retired in 2013 after over 25 years in service. Carol was a flutist and member of various community bands. She was also an active member of the Lawrence County Historical Society. She was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Kitts Surace.
Carol is survived by a brother, Frank (Helen) Kitts, of Maineville; a niece, Alicia Kitts, of Maineville; two nephews, David (Kelly) Surace, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Jonathan Kitts, of Maineville; and a great niece, Adair Surace, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jimmy Lee Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
