HSJ golfers slip past Coal Grove

PINE GROVE — The Coal Grove Hornets put the pressure on the Huntington St. Joseph Fighting Irish.

The Irish boast a strong golf team this season but won a tri-match on Monday by just nine shots over the Hornets.

St. Joseph had a 172 team score while the Hornets posted a 181. The Rock Hill Redmen had a 202 total.

Coal Grove was led by Trevor Deere with a 41 and Ryan Malone with a 44. Alex Gillette had a 47 and Garrett Holiday a 49.

Jed Whitworth and Jake Sites each carded a 50 for the Hornets.

The Irish were led by Fuzzy Vance who took medalist honors with a 38. Connor Campbell was next with a 41, Rained Lansang 43, Jacob Perry 50 and Deuce Vance had a 53.

Logan Reed fired a 41 to pace the Redmen. Jay Haywood was next with a 45 while Austin Riddle had a 53 and Chase Nelson a 63.
