Charles Diamond

Sept. 17, 1948 — Sept. 9, 2016

Charles Ronald (Ron) Diamond, 67, of South Point, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at home.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Randy Patrick officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Zoar Cemetery. Charles was born Sept. 17, 1948, in Ironton.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Thomas (Jeanne) Diamond; and mother, Ruby (Charles) Boggs Bayless; and a brother, Phillip Morris. Ron was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War, and spent two years in the National Guard Reserve. He is a former officer of the Ironton Police Department, Lieutenant at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and retired from the Department of Human Services. After retirement, he was employed through Ohio University for five years working at Workforce Development Resource Center.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha K. Mayhew Diamond; four children, Ronnetta K. (Edward) Sonnevil, Catherine S. (Bill) Hyland, Tammy L. (Randy) Henry and David S. (Drady) Diamond; one sister, Diana (Gary) Walls; two half-brothers, Thomas Arthur (Ermma) Diamond and Danny Lee Diamond; 13 grandchildren, Curtis Ryan Webb, Tabatha Kay (Tony) Tobias, Dylan Lee Sonnevil, Ashley Nicole (Steven) Sonnevil, Curtis Elias Webb, Gavin Ryan Webb, Justin Tyler (Sarah) Hyland, Ciara Hope Hyland, Heather Dawn Henry, Casey Ranae (Lee) Noel, Randy Lee (Brittany) Henry, II, Devin Andrew Diamond and Dreydon Thomas Diamond; and four great-grandchildren, Caiden Anthony Tobias, Miranda Leigh Henry, Carson Lee Noel and Noah Tyler Hyland.

Paul Salyer

Paul Edwin Salyer, 93, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at Jo-Lin Health Center. Graveside service will be at a later date.

Gina Kates

Gina Kehali Kates, 57, of Proctorville, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016. A graveside service will be noon Monday at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, by pastor Gregory Tomlinson. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-noon Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Brian Johnson

Brian Thomas Johnson, 53, of Proctorville, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016. There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements.

 

John Backley

John David Backley, 90, of Proctorville, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at home.

Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, followed by a graveside service at the Backley Cenetery, Mudsoc, conducted by the Rev. James Dailey. Proctorville VFW Post 6878 will conduct military rites at the funeral home.

Shelbia Kimball

Shelbia Jean Kimball, 79, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at home.  She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Kimball.

Talulah Morris

Talulah J. Morris, 63, of Ironton, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Morris.
