Cast an informed vote

Election Day is fast approaching, around two months away, and several races will fill the ballots locally, statewide and nationally.

In the coming weeks, the candidates will deliver their message to as many people as possible, and this will come through as many avenues as possible. Many times, the information trying to be deciphered for voters can be overwhelming.

However, we are fortunate here in Lawrence County because we have many opportunities to meet the candidates who will be out in the community and participating in various forums, town halls and debates.

Being informed and gathering the right information about each of the candidates is a vital component in order to make a decision on Election Day. However, in past years, many of these opportunities have not been well attended.

Getting the information out to the voters is extremely important for the candidates, but it is equally as important for voters to actively seek out that information as well. Doing so allows all those who will vote in the next election cycle to make the best decision possible on those who will lead our community, state and country.

We must take advantage of each opportunity over the coming weeks to become better informed about those seeking public office.
