Fairland golfers win competitive match

PINE GROVE — Now that’s a golf match.
A total of six strokes separated three teams in a quad golf match at the Ironton Country Club on Monday.
Fairland won the match with a 182 team total. The Ironton Fighting Tigers were just two shots back at 184 and the Coal Grove Hornets were two strokes behind them with a 186 team score.
The Rock Hill Redmen had a 215 total to round out the team scoring.
Reece Bellville shot a 40 to lead the Dragons. Mason Manns had a 44, Addi Speed 46 and Cameron Shepherd 47 to complete the scoring. Hannah Shrout added a 50 and Mihkail Auxier and Connor Franklin each shot a 51.
Mason Slagel led the Fighting Tigers with a 45. Chandler Dodson and James Carter were one shot back at 46 and Trevor Hacker carded a 47. Also for Ironton Mitchell Weisgarber had a 48, Jake Thomas 56 and Tyler Shelton 60.
Coal Grove’s Trevor Deere led his team as he took medalist honors with a 37. Jake Sites shot a 48, Ryan Malone 50 and Luke Thompson had a 51. Both Jed Whitworth and Garrett Holliday had a 55 score.
Logan Reed fired a 40 to pace the Redmen. Jason Haywood was next with a 49, Austin Riddle had a 62 and Chase Nelson a 64.
Ironton will hosts Coal Grove and Rock Hill in a tri-match next Monday.
