COAL GROVE –– In a special village council meeting Friday evening, the village of Coal Grove and its labor union, AFSCME Local 771, agreed on a new contract.
The changes to the contract include adding a provision for random drug testing for the purpose of reducing Workers’ Comp cost. This is also a village-wide policy including both union and non-union workers.
Another provision was added that if a person holding a license fails to renew it or leaves the village within two years, they must reimburse the village of the costs it took to obtain.
The union also wanted to increase its uniform allowance from $400 to $600, however, that was not changed in the new agreement.
The contract is two years, but will be re-opened after the first.

Village councilman Chuck McKinght was appointed and approved as the village administrator on a full-time basis. The position gives McKnight $2 more per hour from his base pay.
