Denise Wade

Dec. 27, 1955 — July 13, 2016

Denise Mae Wade, 60 of Wheelersburg, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Dec. 27, 1955, the daughter of the late Meredith Eugene and Joyce Frazer Rowe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael B. Wade, who passed away July 18, 2015.

Denise was a graduate of Ironton High School and a homemaker. She attended the Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Grove and was a dedicated and loving housewife who enjoyed attending church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, M.E. Rowe.

She is survived by three brothers, Michael E. (Barb) Rowe, of Dongola, Illinois, Randy (Tami) Rowe, and Bo (Tammy) Rowe, all of Ironton; a sister, Patty L. (Jeff Lewis) Lawless, of Ironton; two sisters-in-law, Anita Conley, of Portsmouth, and Terri L. Rowe, of Ironton; and nieces and nephews, Taylor Johnson, Angie Bright, Michael Rowe, Kimberly Rowe, Bryan Rowe, Bron Rowe, Bethany Rowe, Danielle Garrison, Megan Lawless, Morgan Medinger and Heath Conley.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Darrel Adkins officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery and visitation was Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Patricia Johnson

Nov. 17, 1954 — July 13, 2016

Patricia Johnson, 61, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at her residence. The Ironton native was born Nov. 17, 1954, a daughter of the late John “Jack” Foster Dutey and Flora May “Joan” Melvin Dutey.

Mrs. Johnson was a 1972 graduate of Ironton High School and was a former LPN for King’s Daughters Medical Center. She formerly attended Zoar Baptist Church, Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene and also enjoyed reading.

She is survived by three children, Walter Scott (Amy Dawn) Morgan, Becca (Jonathan) Mannon and John Lawhorn, all of Ironton; a brother, Jimmy (Denise) Dutey, of Ironton; a sister, Sue Ellen Wilson, of Piqua; and many nieces, nephews, friends and a special long time friend, Kathy Schiltz.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Dr. Kevin Willis officiating. Judith Thomas

Nov. 6, 1943 — July 13, 2016

Judith Ann Thomas, 72, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the St. Joseph Hospital Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky. The Huntington, West Virginia native was born Nov. 6, 1943, the daughter of the late Merle Floyd and Helen (Metheny) Flyod. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Vernon (Chubby) Thomas, who passed away Sept. 29, 2014.

Mrs. Thomas was a 1961 graduate of South Point High School. Judith was an employee for several years with Heartland of Riverview. Upon moving to Lexington, Kentucky, she continued to work in the health care field working for CareTenders Home Health, where she retired from in 2011. She was a member of Sheridan Freewill Enterprise Baptist church in South Point.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Floyd.

She is survived by two sons, David (Linda) Thomas, of Richmond, Kentucky, and Deron (Leigh Anne) Thomas, of Rockwood, Tennessee; a daughter, Teresa Lynn (Johnny) Childers, of Lexington, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Joshua Childers, of Lexington, Kentucky, Lcpl Aaron Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Christen Thomas, of Richmond Kentucky, and Ryan Willis, of Rockwood, Tennessee; three sisters, Ginny (Jack) Davidson, of Willisburg, Kentucky, Patty (Harold) Walden, of South Point, Jaque Sue (Ed) Miller, of Marion, and Dale Floyd, of South Point.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor David Heavner officiating. Bruce Hendricks

Nov. 9, 1931 — July 14, 2016

Bruce D. Hendricks 84, of Raceland, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Mr. Hendricks was born Nov. 9, 1931, to the late Bruce Hendricks and Ruby May in Seth, West Virginia. Bruce was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was formerly employed by CNO Railroad as an Engineer and was an avid reader.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis Toten, Jewel Rader and Sandy Ervin; and brother, Richard Hendricks.

Left behind to remember him are his wife of 51 years, Rose Hendricks; children, Tracey Miller, Mary Hendricks, Don (Michelle) Hendricks, Joseph Hendricks, Billy Hendricks, Donna Morrison, Pam Travis and Diane Hendricks; grandchildren, Jacob Miller, Carissa, Drew and Tyler Hendricks. Also surviving is a special friend, Carolyn Webb. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pineview Cemetery in Orgas, West Virginia.

 

Lonnie Adkins

Lonnie Adkins, 80, of Proctorville, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at River’s Bend Health Care, South Point.  He is survived by his wife, Alice Adkins. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

William Stapleton

Oct. 17, 1949 — July 13, 2016

William “Bill” Franklin Stapleton, 66, of Ironton, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 17, 1949, in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Charles E. and Mary Ann Ashworth Stapleton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Stapleton and Charles Stapleton; and a niece, Mary Margret Stapleton.

Bill is survived by his children, Samantha (Robert Russell) Wood, Leeann (Hank Williams, Jr.) Williams, Becky (Jerry) Taylor, Mike Sharp and James Sharp; his ex-wife and caretaker, Ruth Sharp; four nieces, Megan Levi, Heather Christian, Anna Sharp and Maddy Sharp; two nephews, Travis (Audriauna) Taylor and Coty Runyon; and a granddaughter, Kirsten Williams.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Randy Tute officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Randy Coburn

April 29, 1961 — July 14, 2016

Randy Alan Coburn, 55, of South Point, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at the VA Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.

Randy was born April 29, 1961, in Ironton, a son of Patricia Robinson Coburn and the late Ralph Coburn. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Shirley Coburn; maternal grandparents, Averill and Lucille Robinson; and best friend, Eugene Carrico.

Randy was a 1979 graduate of South Point High School, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired from CSX Railroad and attended Burlington Baptist Church. Along with his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Britanni Mills, of Huntington, West Virginia; two brothers, Ralph Coburn, of South Point, and Rick Coburn, of Atlanta, Georgia; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Jimmy Carey officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.
