The Ro-Na Theater will be rocking on Saturday for the 2016 Battle of the Bands, presented by the Friends of Ironton.
“The Battle of the Bands gives local audiences the opportunity to hear different styles of music,” Suzy Hamlin, of the Friends of Ironton, said. “The band that wins gets the opportunity to play for a large and varied audience during the Rally (on the River).”
The two bands set to compete are “Axis” and “Tailgate,” with “Tailgate” kicking things off, taking the stage at 7 p.m. with “Axis” to follow.
“Axis is a young band that plays all different kinds of music and Tailgate plays primarily southern rock and country,” Hamlin said. “We’re looking forward to it and hoping for a good crowd.”
Admission is $5 and includes six vote tickets. Additional vote tickets may be purchased for $1 each or six for $5. All proceeds will go to the Friends of Ironton for the restoration of the Ro-Na Theater.
The winner will perform on the main stage during the Rally on the River, scheduled for Aug. 18-20.
