Sherry Webb

July 31, 1963 — June 20, 2016

Sherry Lynn Webb, 52, of Willow Wood, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church, 16688 County Road 2, Scottown. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Scottown.

Sherry was born July 31, 1963 in Marion, a daughter of Ronald Matthew Anderson and Jewel Bowen Nicely. Sherry began her battle with breast cancer in October 2014. Her faith in God never ceased, always giving Him praise and being a true light to those who knew her. Nothing meant more to her than serving the Lord and enjoying family and friends. She was surrounded by those she loved as she made her journey home.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Burl and Olive Bowen; and stepfather, James Nicely. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Printes Shawn Webb; a daughter, Amanda Lauren Webb; a step daughter, Shawnda Marie Steinke; two sisters, Robin Denise Anderson and Ashley Nicole McFann; a half brother, Ronald Matthew Anderson, II; and four grandchildren, Cameron Shawn Webb, Madison Grace Webb, Miles Joseph Steinke and Oliver Printes Steinke.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, 802 Solida Road, South Point. Edward Adkins

Edward Earl Adkins, Jr., 73, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. He is survived by his wife, Linda Adkins. Funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Willow Wood. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Charles Carmon

June 26, 1924—June 21, 2016

Charles “Cotton” William Carmon, 91, of Ironton passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in Heartland of Riverview, South Point. Mr. Carmon was born June 26, 1924, in Lawrence County, a son to the late Earl and Lillian (Layne) Carmon. He is preceded in death by his wife Vera Sanders Carmon, who passed away Nov. 11, 1993.

Mr. Carmon was a crane operator for the Ironton Solvay. He was a World War II veteran with many decorated honors and stars including Silver Star Medal; Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart; Good Conduct Medal; Presidential Unit Citation with 1 bronze oak leaf cluster; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze service stars; World War II Victory Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award; Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII; Marksman Badge with Carbine Bar with Rifle Bar and was a 2015 inductee into the Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor. Mr. Carmon attended the Ironton City Mission Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sister, Gladys Kelley.

He is survived by son, Mike (Ann) Carmon, of Raceland, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Brienne (Nick) Lawson and Ethan Carmon, both of Raceland, Kentucky; and sister, Annabelle Hackworth, of Pedro.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery with pastor Phillip Warren officiating. Military rites provided by the VFW Post #8850. There will be no public visitation. Hester Nichols, 92, of South Point, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Heartland of Riverview. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with James Boggs officiating. Anthony Scott Cloninger, 31, of Huntington, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at home. Funeral service will be conducted noon Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
