Bowling balls were racing down the lanes and pins were falling fast at Spare Time on Saturday, where the Autism Families of Southeastern Ohio chapter of the Lawrence County Appalachian Family and Children First Council spent the day.

“We provide service gaps for children with special challenges,” Todd Jones, Appalachian Family and Children first council coordinator, said. “We have about four or five events for our families a year.”

Jones said the activities are funded through the Ohio Children First fund and the Office of Family and Children first.

“The mission of our agency is to help every family succeed one child at a time,” Jones said. “We also have autism support groups and provide for recreational activities, safety equipment, social interaction activities and physical and wellness health.”
