Harrah’s big day leads Redwomen to 8-4 win over Lady Pointers

SOUTH POINT — Las Vegas is known for Harrah’s Odds. Imagine what kind of odds they have on Makenzi Harrah getting a hit in each at-bat.
Rock Hill had 10 hits with Harrah going 3-3 with a home run, two doubles and three runs batted in to lead the Redwomen to an 8-4 Ohio Valley Conference win over the South Point Lady Pointers on Wednesday.
Lily McGinnis was 2-4 with a double and RBI, Taylor Hall 2-4 and an RBI and Madison Harper 2-4 with two RBIs.
“Makenzi is locked in right now and she’ taking advantage of opportunities to drive runners in,” said Rock Hill coach Sam Gue.
“Lily, Tay and Madison had great at-bats to get us going in the bottom of the second. It was enough to give us a little momentum and the Makenzi’s home run to start the third came at a big time.”
Emilee Powell was 3-4 with a double and RBI to lead South Point. Keiana Conwell was 2-4 with a double while Haley Rawlins and Allen each went 2-4.
Jill Hairston got the win. She struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
Rock Hill got a run in the first when Hairston walked and Harrah doubled.
The lead went to 3-0 in the second.
McGinnis singled, Hall reached on an error, Harper had a two-run single and Kaci Russell grounded out as a run scored.
Harrah belted a home run leading off the third and it was 5-0.
South Point got two runs in the bottom of the inning. Allen and Powell doubled for a run and Conwell had an RBI single.
Rock Hill got a run in the fourth on a single by Hairston and Harrah’s double.
McGinnis double and Hall singled her home to make it 7-2 in the top of the fifth.
Each team got a run in the sixth.
Hairston reached on an error and scored on a passed ball for the Redwomen. Conwell doubled and scored on an error for South Point.
Friday in league games, Rock Hill is at Fairland and South Point hosts Portsmouth.
