PEDRO — Betty Frances Russell, 76, of Pedro died away Friday, Oct 8, 2010, at her residence. The Pedro native was born June 4, 1934, a daughter of the late Edward and Ella Sharp Friend. She is survived by her husband Ernest “Chop” Russell whom she married Jan. 27, 1951.

She attended Decatur Schools and was a homemaker. She had lived in this area all of her life, enjoyed gardening and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Cletus, Troy and Rick Friend.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her six children, Frances and Arthur Mosley of Pedro, Connie and Paul Fyffe of Ironton, Richard Lee and Sue Russell of Wheelersburg, Trish and Joe Shilling of Wheelersburg, Michelle and Randall Malone of Pedro, Michael and Betty Russell of Pedro; three brothers, James Friend of Pedro, Kurt Friend of Pedro and Edward Friend of Pedro; four sisters, Minnie French of Pedro, Barbara McFann of Pedro, Mary McFann of Pedro and Susie Markel of Pedro; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery.
