Theft from elderly: A check belonging to a woman in her 80s was allegedly stolen and her signature forged for cash in a substantial amount on Feb. 3. Police Chief Bill Murphy said an investigation is under way and a suspect is in mind.

Phone harassment: On Feb. 19, police said that they were advised by the manager of the Proctorville McDonald’s that the business had been receiving 30 to 50 hang-up calls per day. The incidents were said to have occurred since Feb. 9 and the caller ID displays the caller as “private caller.” Police have notified the phone company and the national nuisance phone call reporting system was to be notified when the police report was issued.

Deception to obtain drugs: Police said that Trina Collier, 47, of Chesapeake, allegedly called the Fruth Pharmacy in Proctorville stating she was a doctor calling in a prescription for Alprazolam. Police said the pharmacist was suspicious when the name of the drug was mispronounced and some of the DEA numbers were missing. Collier was detained by a Lawrence County deputy and taken to Proctorville police headquarters, where officers said she admitted to posing as a doctor. Collier was charged and taken to Lawrence County Jail.

Falsification: Police said that they stopped Lois L. Richardson, 22, of Ashland, Kentucky, for reckless driving on the McDonald’s lot and that she allegedly told officers her name was “Amanda M. Cyrus” and that she was 25. When officers ran the name, they said Richardson then told them her real name and she was arrested. Richardson had a warrant out for her in Scioto County.

Possession of drugs, paraphernelia: Police said Summer A. Meade, 26, of South Point, was arrested after she was observed “acting strangely” in a car on the McDonald’s parking lot on March 11. Police said they called in a K-9 unit, and, during a pat down, Meade stated she had items in her bra. Meade allegedly shook her bra and needles fell out. When asked if that was all, police said Meade reached into the side of her underwear and allegedly produced a plastic bag, which appeared to be heroin. She was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
