DECATUR TOWNSHIP–– A fatal house fire in the 13000 block of State Route 93 claimed the life of a man Thursday night in Decatur Township.

Decatur Township Volunteer Fire Chief Gene Cox said the station was alerted at approximately 10:19 p.m.

“Unfortunately, the man that lived there died in the fire,” Cox said. “According to family members, he didn’t have any smoke detectors in the house.”

Cox said the house was completely destroyed by the fire and the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently handling the fire, which is still under investigation.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said that not all of the family members have been notified, so the name is not yet being released.
