Voters in Lawrence County will decide on property tax levies in the spring.

In Chesapeake, voters will vote for a new 3 mill levy for five years for expenses.

Chris Kline, the chief deputy auditor for Lawrence County, said it is expected to bring in $35,800 a year.

A home valued at $50,000 would cost the taxpayer $52.50 a year, he said.

In Proctorville, two levies, a 2.5 mill expense and a 1.5 mill fire, will be on the ballot. The expense levy will generate $11,820. The fire levy will bring in $5,990, village fiscal officer Darrell Legg, said.

Legg said the levies are a renewal and approval will not raise property taxes.

Both levy votes are scheduled for the primary election on March 15.

There is also a local option for the Speedway gas station near by Sam’s Club in South Point, which will be decided by the 817 registered voters in the Burlington 3 precinct.
