PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons don’t believe in the cliché “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”

Fairland got off to a fast start and never looked back en route to a 77-35 rout of the South Point Lady Pointers in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.

The Lady Dragons went on a 15-0 run to begin the game and never stopped as they improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the OVC.

“It was all about the quick start It got our confidence up and it snowballed from there,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

While the offense was in high gear, the defense limited South Point to just five field goal over the first three quarters.

“Through the first three quarters, our defense played really well,” said Buchanan.

Taylor Perry scored 15 points while Emily Chapman and Jackie Wagner had 10 each to lead a balanced Fairland offense that saw 12 players score.

Haley Rawlins scored 10 points to lead the Lady Pointers (2-3, 2-2).

Britney Warnock scored all 8 of her points in the first quarter. Alesha Simpson hit a pair of 3-pointers as Fairland jumped in front 29-8.

Perry scored 9 points in the second quarter and Chapman added 7 more as the lead ballooned to 46-15 at the half.

Allie Marshall and Perry combined for 8 points in the third quarter as Fairland stretched the lead to 62-18.

Wagner had 6 points off the bench in the bench in the fourth quarter for Fairland.

South Point played without Madison Kearns who suffered a broken hand.

On Thursday, Fairland hosts Portsmouth and South Point entertains Gallipolis in league games.
